I think more people should appreciate proto-punk, because it offers so many hidden gems. For example, I like Communication Breakdown, but Black Sabbath's Paranoid? That one I would rather listen to instead of the former any day. Also, Sir Lord Baltimore's Hard Rain Fallin' might be the best of the whole genre. Either that or Deep Purple's Fireball.
